Waste reception stations

Both permanent residents and holiday home owners can use any of the region’s six waste reception stations, irrespective of municipal borders. The waste reception stations are located in Asikkala, Heinola, Hollola, Lahti, Orimattila and Padasjoki.

They are intended for waste other than that arising from daily domestic activities. For such household waste, residential properties must arrange regular waste collection. The waste reception stations also accept small quantities of waste from businesses, as long as such deliveries are not regular.

The waste reception stations accept loads of 1m³ delivered in a passenger car, van or trailer. PILLERI waste station in Lahti also accepts loads larger than 1m³. The fee charged by the waste reception station is determined on the basis of the volume and type of the waste. View prices here.

Kujala Waste Centre in Lahti is the region’s only waste reception centre to accept skips. On arrival at the waste centre, skips are weighed and the waste charge is determined on the basis of the weight.

Before visiting a waste reception station

You should consider how the waste is to be sorted before loading your vehicle. The waste reception stations accept many waste types free of charge from households:

• hazardous waste
• garden waste
• scrap metal
• electrical equipment
• paper
• wood (including furniture made of wood)
• treated (impregnated) wood
• tyres
• glass packaging
• cardboard

Waste subject to a fee includes, for example, mixed waste, plastic products and furniture.
